Sow Grow & Homesteading with Fiona

Date: Feb – Nov - 10 weeks – 2nd Wednesday of each month
Time: 10am – 2pm
Join me in 2027 as I sow & grow my own vegetables & fruits in our kitchen gardens, greenhouse and polytunnel here at Cloughan Farm. Perhaps you are interested in getting your own few hens or rearing broilers, we will also be sharing with you how to get started . In the kitchen you'll be getting hands on from time to time cooking and baking our garden bounty as well as preserving and fermenting with recipes included This is a wonderful opportunity to learn and replicate in your own garden as you sow and grow along side Fiona at Cloughan Farm Cookery School. When you arrive in the morning, you'll enjoy our freshly baked scones just out of the oven topped with our own homemade preserves and with tea/coffee. As your day ends we will all gather in our dining room to enjoy a Farm to Table lunch cooked by Fiona in the kitchen of Cloughan Farm. When and What it entails- Workshops will take place on the 2nd Wednesday of each month

Afternoon tea at Cloughan Farm is very special for Fiona as baking holds a very warm place in her heart. Baking with my Granny Egan and my beautiful mother Eithna gives me such incredibly happy memories. These 2 amazing ladies taught me so well. Step into a world of elegance with an afternoon inspired by the timeless tradition. Delicate pastries filled with seasonal fruits, elegant cakes and desserts and of course, finger sandwiches. Fiona’s afternoon tea, where everything is made from scratch, just like she was taught Your afternoon begins in the kitchen, where Fiona will demonstrate how to make and bake a selection of savoury and sweet treats. Once I'm finished in the kitchen, you will be invited into our dining room, where you'll enjoy sipping freshly brewed leaf tea or coffee in China cups and saucers and be served the delicious fruits of my labour. When you arrive at Cloughan Farm Cookery School you'll be greeted with a warm glass of mulled wine along with some tasty seasonal canapés Guided by Fiona in the kitchen we'll get hands on creating a delicious dessert suitable for the festive season. A lip licking ice cream that you can have made ahead just encase that unexpected visitor might decide to call. Trails Ways & Autumn Feast Price: €75 Date: 30th Oct Time: 11.30am 4pm Location: Cloughan Farm & Abbeyshrule Village An autumn trail & dining experience featuring a guided walk of historic Abbeyshrule village by Kathryn Keenan , an insightful National Famine Way presentation by Edel McWeeney, and a 2 course farm to table lunch at Cloughan Farm by Fiona Egan. Your experience begins at Cloughan Farm, where you will be warmly welcomed with morning tea and scones by your host, Fiona and alongside local guide Kathryn Keenan. Kathryn is a key figure in the community who brings a wealth of local knowledge, passion for history, and deep roots in Abbeyshrule. From the farm, a short 3km bus journey brings you into the heart of the village, arriving at the iconic National Famine Bronze Shoes Monument. Here, Kathryn will share the moving story behind the shoes as you trace a few symbolic footsteps along the National Famine Way. Kathryn will then guide you on through the village, weaving together the story of Abbeyshrule past and present. Having grown up in the village and personally contributed to the village's growth and community efforts over the years, she will share the story of the restored Royal Canal and its vital lifeline in the story and development of the Famine Way. You will also enjoy a visit to the historic Cistercian Abbey ruins, and hear what makes Abbeyshrule a national and international award-winning Tidy Towns village. Upon returning to Cloughan Farm, we will be joined by Edel McWeeney from the National Famine Way for an insightful presentation on the history, heritage, and ongoing development of this historic trail. To round off the afternoon, everyone will sit down together around the dining room table to enjoy a seasonal 2 course autumn feast, prepared entirely from scratch in the kitchen by Fiona using much of our kitchen garden bounty. Breads & Preserves - Hands on Price: €125pp Date: 12th Sept Time: 10am – 2pm In this experience you'll be making traditional Irish soda bread, scones and a crusty white loaf of yeast bread. You'll also learn the beautiful art of jam and chutney making to recreate when you get home. It won’t take long until you have your own pantry shelves lined with pots from your garden and hedgerow harvest.
